Mediterra DataCenters launches MDC Roadshow 2026
Mediterra DataCenters is proud to launch MDC Roadshow 2026, a strategic initiative designed to foster dialogue between institutions, businesses, technology partners and industry stakeholders on the future of digital infrastructure in Italy and Southern Europe.
The roadshow aims to promote Mediterra’s vision of a distributed network of Regional Data Centers, bringing digital infrastructure closer to local businesses and communities while supporting economic growth, innovation and digital resilience across the country.
The first stop of the tour will take place in Palermo, Sicily, a symbolic starting point that reflects the growing importance of Southern Italy in the global digital ecosystem. Thanks to its strategic location at the crossroads of major submarine cable routes, Sicily is increasingly positioning itself as a key connectivity hub linking Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In this context, Palermo is emerging as a true Mediterranean gateway, capable of enabling the development of regional digital hubs and next-generation data center infrastructure.
During the event, participants will explore the opportunities that make Sicily an attractive platform for technological development, including sustainable energy availability, the evolution of international connectivity through submarine cables, and the creation of new professional skills in data center operations, customer service and data engineering.
The event will also provide Mediterra with the opportunity to present the expansion of its Palermo data center, highlighting its strategic role within the company’s broader vision of building a nationwide network of regional data centers designed to support local economies while strengthening Italy’s digital infrastructure landscape.
By bringing together public institutions, infrastructure operators and technology partners, the roadshow will address key themes including Sicily’s role as a new global data corridor, Southern Italy’s potential to attract infrastructure investments, and the evolution of data centers toward more distributed and territory-focused models.
A key moment of the event will be the presentation of the Mediterranean Connectivity Pact, an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration among institutions, infrastructure providers and technology stakeholders to support the development of Sicily’s digital infrastructure ecosystem and further enhance the region’s role in the Mediterranean digital economy.
With MDC Roadshow 2026, Mediterra DataCenters reaffirms its commitment to building a more connected, resilient and distributed digital future, creating the conditions for innovation and sustainable growth throughout Italy.
